Irina Angles is a Ukrainian freelance choreographer, teacher, multi-disciplinary artist, and creative director, known for her innovative approach to blending contemporary and urban dance with modern technology. Born in the mining town of Donetsk, Irina is a self-taught artist with over 15 years of dance experience and 6 years of directing. Her unique dance teaching method, "Flying Angles," has gained recognition worldwide.
Irina is passionate about exploring the intersection of future technologies like AI, AR, and VR with human movement. Her work often addresses the relationship between technology and society, emphasizing the importance of maintaining humanity within an increasingly digital world.
Irina is deeply influenced by modern architecture, interior design, and geometric movement, which she integrates into her choreography.
She has won numerous prizes in dance battles and competitions, served as a judge at international festivals, and performed at prestigious venues and exhibitions such as “BAUHAUS-100” and the Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA) in Shanghai. Irina has also spoken at TEDx (Shanghai) on "The Art of Vogue" and been featured in Tatler Hong Kong and has done commercial collaborations with high-profile brands such as Harper’s Bazaar and Pandora Jewelry.
Key Projects and Collaborations:
"LIFE" (2024): A Live Mocap project presented at the “Festival D`Avignon” using Metahuman technology, created in collaboration with Atelier Daruma and Dark Euphoria, supported by the “France 2030” program.
"Walled Garden" (2024): A live digital performance at the NFC summit in Lisbon, where Irina served as the creative director and performer.
"CHIROPTERA" (2023): A collaborative project with Damien Jalet, JR, and Thomas Bangalter on the scaffolding of the Paris Opera, where Irina performed as a dancer.
AI Dance Series "Almost Human" (2023): Created in conjunction with Dr. Formalyst, this project won the FRONTIER AWARD at the AI SHORT FEST for innovative integration of AI in a short film, during the "Annual International Conference on Computer Vision" in Paris.
